Dan Maffei with students at Nottingham High SchoolA Message from Dan Maffei

When I was elected in 2008, the economy was in free fall, the housing market had collapsed and it was time to act. No decision was easy. But one thing was clear. We could not afford to stand back and do nothing while the country sank further into an already painful recession.

We took action. We passed measures to provide financial aid to nearly 50 struggling businesses in this district. We offered tax relief for middle class families, first time home buyers and small businesses. We passed measures to extend unemployment benefits and provide job training to those who lost their livelihoods in the financial crisis.

In politics, as in life, it's easy to describe the problem. It's hard being part of the solution. I go to work every day believing that results matter. I will not rest until we turn this economy around. I will not falter when it comes to standing with working men and women. I will not make decisions based on polls or partisanship. The road ahead will not always be easy. But I believe that progress and prosperity go hand-in-hand. Join me in pursuit of both.  With your help, we can create a brighter future in central and western New York.
