A Message from Dan MaffeiIt has been an honor serving you in Congress this past year. I am forever grateful for the support from my constituents from across Central and Western New York. Together we can continue to work to ensure that our communities remain strong.
On Election Day 2008 citizens from across the country and our district went into the voting booth and decided to put to our nation on a new course. We chose the path that said our similarities are bigger then our differences, and that unity and community involvement will always triumph divisiveness and gridlock. But progress does not come easy. There are powerful forces who desperately want to see the status quo stay the same, because it is extremely profitable for them. From big banks who fight financial regulations, to big oil who fight a new energy and climate policy, to the health insurance industry who have let it be known they are against any health care reform, we have seen this year that progress and change do not come without a fight.
This past year has not been without its ups and downs. We start 2010 knowing that we will continue to face tough challenges to put our economy back on track and ensure that all Americans who want to work can find a good job. I will continue to work to bring jobs back to our community so that Central New York can maintain being a place where good business is done, so that our children will grow up in a prosperous society that will keep them here for years to come.
Whether you're a Democrat, Republican, or Independent the obstacles we face are all the same. I am proud that you have put your trust in me as your Congressman. I think I have the best job in the world, and I go to work every day with a sense of pride knowing that together we take on any challenges.
Over the course of this year I look forward to seeing you again, be it in Irondequoit, Webster, Penfield, Newark, Rose, Sterling, Clay, Cicero, Fabius or in Syracuse. I am constantly traveling throughout the district, so I hope to see you soon.
Thank you for your continued support.
